The First Minister's Start Up Challenge

Have you got a brilliant idea but aren't quite sure how to turn it into reality? The First Minister's Start-Up Challenge is a Scottish Government programme delivered by Dechomai and The King's Trust, supporting young people aged 18-30 across Scotland to transform their ideas, ambitions, and passions into successful ventures. This is your chance to build confidence, gain real-world experience, and show everyone exactly what you are capable of achieving.

We are looking for young people who may have faced disadvantages or obstacles, but still have the drive and potential to succeed. You will join a six-month fast-track programme, packed with weekly expert sessions, practical workshops, and entrepreneurial placements alongside some of Scotland's most exciting new business owners.

You will take part in monthly mini-challenges, and have the chance to win a £500 grant to test and develop your idea. Those ready to launch their venture can also apply for a further £5,000 start-up award. At the end of the programme, one outstanding participant will receive £30,000 in funding, so they can dedicate a whole year entirely to growing and developing their business.

If you are ready to learn new skills, build your confidence, and take a real, meaningful step toward running your own company, this challenge could be life-changing and it could help launch Scotland's next generation of creative and innovative leaders.
